What is this?
What is this? This is a special place in the Netherlands called "Keukenhof".
The park opened its gates to the public in 1950 and was an instant success. Of course people asked many "what is this?" while pointing at a special flower. This part focuses on the question "What is this?".
Instruction
During our first stay in the Netherlands, we often asked, 'What is this?' while pointing at nearby objects, or 'What is that?' for objects further away.
In our illustration language,
'what' is shown as a question mark
'is' as a circle with an equals sign (representing the verb "to be"), and
'this' as a finger pointing downward
'that' as a finger pointing to to something further away..
Here our first questions with: what is this?
<<<
1 what is this? this is a plate
2 what is this? this is a knife
3 what is this? this is a spoon
4 what is this? this is a fork
<<<
Now, with the question "what is that?" while I am pointing at an object further away.
1 what is that? that is a car
2 what is that? that is a bike
3 what is that? that is a train
4 what is that? that is an airplane

During our first week, we noted what we ate and drank. We also made a movie of it. The funny part is that Jan asked me 'What is this?' every time.
