Until now, we have only introduced you to what are known as lowercase letters. The same letters can also appear as uppercase. Typically, we refer to these as uppercase and lowercase letters. Occasionally, uppercase letters are termed capitals. Generally, this doesn't lead to many issues. However, there is one exception: the uppercase form of the letter 'i' (I) and the lowercase 'l' have the same shape. In practice, this rarely presents a significant problem.

Look at the following pictures, and you will see how words can be written with uppercase and lowercase letters. Copy everything into your notebook, as that itself is an exercise and a perfect way to memorize all the letters!
There's another crucial aspect to consider. We've learned the pronunciation of the different letters. Observe that every letter also has a name, and the pronunciation of this name typically doesn't match the sounds you've learned in this lesson! These names are utilized when spelling a name or a series of letters, as we will explore in the exercises.
