More activities

I just said that I like to play tennis. But I like more activities, like swimming, cycling, walking and running. Now we live in Amsterdam. We do not have a house with a garden. So, unfortunately I have to skip gardening.

And what do you like?

Mobirise

In order to indicate what another person likes, the Dutch sentence is "waar hou jij van". The literal meaning of the words is: what like you of. This seems odd... funny Dutchmen.

The Dutch verb to love is "houden van". If the verb is used in a question, the two words:
a. "houden"
b. "van"
are separated and the word "van" comes at the end of the sentence. This is illustrated in the drawing. This is a typical Dutch rule that makes Dutch more difficult compared to English.
The next sentence illustrates this. The word "hou"is derived from the verb and is spelled this way as it is combined with I.
