Verbs
The main part of this lesson is about verbs and how to conjugate verbs. This means that we have to know how to write and pronounce a verb depending on its relationship with a personal pronoun and the tense (time: actual time, past time, etc.).
Some verbs follow certain rules - we then speak of regular verbs - and some verbs don't. The latter category is known as the category of irregular verbs. Unfortunately, the most commonly used verbs belong to that category. Here is an estimate of the number of words and verbs you need to know.
Level A1:
• Total number of words: About 500-800 words.
• Number of verbs: Around 50-100 verbs. This includes basic verbs like "to be," "to have," "to go," "to come," "to do," etc.
Level A2:
• Total number of words: About 1000-1500 words.
• Number of verbs: Around 100-200 verbs. This includes a wider range of verbs needed to describe simple daily situations, like "to work," "to study," "to buy," "to travel," "to eat," etc.
These numbers are estimates and can vary depending on the specific language and the learning program used.
Can you train separately how to conjugate 100 verbs?
The answer is: no. Training the conjugation of 100 verbs separately can be overwhelming. Here are some strategies to make it more manageable:
How to master?
Start by learning the most common regular verb endings and practice conjugating them. Once you know the pattern, you can apply it to multiple verbs, reducing the need to memorize each one separately.
Focus on the most frequently used irregular verbs first.
These are often essential for basic communication. Create mnemonic devices to help remember irregular forms. That means: create simple tables that shows in an easy way how the verbs are conjugated. We offer several flashcard series.
Flashcards
We use mainly flashcards to train the most import words and verbs.
As you have notices we use mainly flashcards for training words and verbs. At the end of this lesson again we will use flashcards for training.
